Oh yah we sorted it out with a little Antibiotic and a night off the net in simple terms and for technical people we would say "the laptop was switched off and powered back on in Safe Mode, then uninstalled AV7, newsecure and all Anti-Virus software through control panel and registry. Then we proceeded to stop all services and cleared the temp files then restarted the machine in normal operation, gained access to the registry and run a check from there [not for the light hearted].

You will be disappointed to note that though there is free anit-virus out there, the is tonnes of viruses waiting for you to pick em up for free as well. A week ago a client threw a laptop at me and said, “could you please have a look at my computer, I think it has a virus”. As usual, they never tell you when the problem started and how serious the issue is, but sure do advise that they need it fixed. So I had a look at it.Powered it up, VISTA wow, a couple of icons, and sure they run VUZE for mass illegal downloads and what is this, I could see AV7 and newsecure as part of what was running on the computer and before I could stop all services “pow” I was hit right in the face with pop up screens, Internet Explorer redirection and the works. I thought to myself, AV7 is not an Antivirus and newsecure sounds like “no secure”.

Again I would like to emphasis that its always worth investing in an Anti-Virus software because you just never know when a virus will want to come take a peek at your system. “Oh yah” we fixed it with a little Antibiotic and a night off the net in simple terms and for technical people we would say “the laptop was switched off and powered back on in Safe Mode, then uninstalled AV7, newsecure and all Anti-Virus software through control panel and registry. Then we proceeded to stop all services and cleared the temp files then restarted the machine in normal operation, gained access to the registry and run a check from there [not for the light hearted].

After a clear sign, we proceeded to install Norton 360, registered it and run an update, and before we could know it all was working just right. We kept it for a night on what Doctors would call “minor observation for the night”.

Lesson: AV7 is not an Anti Virus, its a virus and newsecure is like “no secure”. Buy an Anti Virus software or hire a consultant to get your Computer serviced once in a while or every 3months if you are online like 24/7, you might just pick up a flu Virus.
